Indonesia’s election workers deaths: Negligence or coincidence?

Indonesia’s Health Ministry reported that at least 108 poll workers died between election day, on Feb. 14, and Feb. 22. The majority of deaths were due to heart attacks and hypertension. This has revived debate about whether the workload from the world’s biggest election contributed to these deaths. These poll workers start their day when polls open at 7 a.m., and leave only when they are done counting votes. BenarNews followed a poll worker for a day to see how tiring the work can be.
